State Theatre of Culpeper - Logan Brill

Date: September 12, 2015
Location: 305 S. Main Street, Historic Downtown, Culpeper VA 22701
Time: 8:00 pm
Description: Genre: Country
In just a few short months since the release of her debut album 'Walking Wires', 23-year-old Logan Brill has already proven herself to be one of the most important new artists coming up in Nashville today. With a stunning voice that goes toe to toe with Nashville's finest, the young singer-songwriter opts for grit and authenticity over pristine pop in her song choices, drawing comparisons to Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, and Mary Chapin Carpenter from national press. Outlets like Billboard, CMT Edge, Country Weekly, Pollstar, and CMA Close Up Magazine have already shown their support for her refreshingly authentic sound, imbued with a "bluesy American grit" (Southern Living) that sets her apart as "a far cry from the slick pop country of many of her contemporaries" (The Boot). That Nashville Sound dubbed 'Walking Wires' one of the "Top 10 Country Albums of 2013."
It seems that both Americana and country music fans nationwide agree, as Logan has appeared on sold-out bills in markets from Nashville to Chicago to Washington, DC, including opening spots with artists like Steve Earle, Josh Turner, Jerry Douglas, Leon Russell, Carbon Leaf, Robbie Fulks, Todd Snider, Sara Evans, and David Ramirez.

State Theatre of Culpeper - Glimmer Twins

Date: September 19, 2015
Location: 305 S. Main Street, Historic Downtown Culpeper, VA 22701
Time: 8:00 pm
Description: Genre: Classic Rock/Cover Band
The Rolling Stones have long been hailed as The Greatest Rock-n-Roll Band in the World. But before they became the corporate machine that they are sometimes referred to as today, they earned this title by wowing audiences worldwide with some of the most electrifying performances in the history of rock-n-roll. Beginning with the recording of the classic album 'Beggar's Banquet' in the late 60's, the Rolling Stones would enter into what is widely considered to be their most creative period that would continue right up through the release of the album 'Exile On Main St.' You will be amazed at the way The Glimmer Twins are able to recreate the look and feel of The Rolling Stones during this period and beyond.
The Rolling Stones single handedly changed the way rock concerts were presented to large audiences when they kicked off their '69 U.S. Tour which is thoroughly documented in the movie 'Gimme Shelter'. By combining the raw energy of the band with the more sophisticated amplification systems for the times, The Stones were able to connect with their mass audiences in sold-out arenas on a whole new level. The Glimmer Twins will give you a close-up view and feeling of what it was like to be in the audience at one of these historical performances.
By 1972 their live performances were creating such frenzy, that many venues needed to utilize a lottery system in order to fairly distribute tickets because of the overwhelming demand. In subsequent years, the audiences kept increasing in size to the point where The Stones were selling out stadiums across the world. Everyone wanted to experience the sensation of seeing The Rolling Stones perform. What makes The Glimmer Twins such a special attraction is their ability to capture the raw energy of the most electrifying performances throughout The Rolling Stones' career, and present it in such a way that audiences are able to experience the same sensation of what it was like to be at a Stones concert in their heyday. Because of the uncanny resemblances to Mick Jagger & Keith Richards in their prime coupled with the special attention given to the minutest details both musically and visually, The Glimmer Twins deliver a Classic Rolling Stones Experience to their audience.

State Theatre of Culpeper - An Evening with Gaelic Storm

Date: September 25, 2015
Location: 305 S. Main Street, Historic Downtown Culpeper, VA 22701
Time: 8:00 pm
Description: Genre: World Music
Over the course of 10 albums and nearly 3,000 live shows, Gaelic Storm — the chart-topping, multi-national Celtic band — is dishing up a hearty serving of Full Irish – The Best of Gaelic Storm. The greatest-hits album spans the bulk of the band's career, mixing crowd favorites and concert staples with three previously unreleased recordings, including "Whiskey in the Jar" and "Irish Party in Third Class" from Titanic. The album features sea shanties and drinking songs, traditional tunes and Gaelic Storm originals, instrumental workouts and vocal showcases. Regularly playing more than 120 shows a year, Gaelic Storm has built a loyal following as diverse as the band's own music. Fans of traditional Irish music have championed the group for years, as have fans of harder-edged Celtic rock. On tour, Gaelic Storm is just as likely to play a large rock club as a plush theater. The band makes regular appearances on cruises, too, joining artists like the Barenaked Ladies and Michael Franti. Gaelic Storm has straddled the line between tradition and innovation for nearly two decades, infusing traditional Celtic music with modern influences, and updating the genre for a new generation of fans raised on rock, country and folk. Along the way, the group has topped the Billboard World Chart four times and earned a reputation as a hard-touring, genre-bending band.

State Theatre of Culpeper - ComedySportz DC

Location: 305 S. Main Street, Historic Downtown Culpeper, VA 22701
Time: For Kidz @ 2pm; Evening Show @ 7pm; Blue Show @ 10pm
Description: Genre: Comedy
2 P.M.
ComedySportz has always been clean comedy that anyone can enjoy. ComedySportz4Kidz is a specially redesigned version of our classic show. The "4kidz" version features tons more interaction so that children become a big part of the show they came to see! The more children are involved, the better time they have!

7 P.M.
ComedySportz is a fast-paced improvisational comedy show. Two teams battle for laughs and points as they make up scenes and songs on the spot. The audience shouts out all the suggestions and votes for the winners, while the referee calls the fouls.
It's not a comedy show ABOUT sports, it's the comedy show that IS a sport. CSz understands that comedy can be enjoyed by people of all ages without having to be offensive — that's why all shows under the ComedySportz banner are "clean." And remember that each show is different. We play new games with new audience suggestions every time. You could see a million shows and never see the same show twice.

10 P.M.
The Blue Show is comedy for the 18+ crowd. Join us to watch the ComedySportz the players shed their uniforms and play dirty. No audience suggestion will be turned away, and nothing will hold these players back from the bawdy, the outrageous, the downright hilarious. This is pure, unfiltered, late-night improv.
