The Beginning Quiltmaking class will include instructions and projects on both processes of quilting-piecing/applique and quilting. The class is designed to give you experience in both hand piecing and hand quilting. You will learn to sew straight seams and to appliqué. The quilting stitch itself will be covered on its own. You will learn several finishing techniques for small projects.

The blocks you will make are Monkey Wrench, Pinwheel and Dresden Plate. Patterns for these blocks will be provided, as will the Amish Star design for the wholecloth quilting project.

The following items are needed for the first class: paper and pencil, ruler and scissors for cutting paper. The instructor will provide straight pins, a needle and thread to use while working on your practice kit in the first class. Top quality recommended quilting tools and brands will be discussed in the first class time.

Georgette will host cooking activities on the 4th Saturday of each month starting May 24th and ending September 27th. The cooking activities are offered in three convenient, 30-minute sessions (Session 1: 9:00-9:30 AM, Session 2: 10:00-10:30 AM, and Session 3: 11:00-11:30 AM) each week. 7th Annual Culpeper Cycling Century Ride

This bicycle ride is fast becoming a tradition boasting great scenic beauty and paved road riding in Culpeper County during the most colorful season - Fall! You can choose between several distances, including the 100 mile ultimate challenge on countryside roads. Proceeds from this ride will benefit the Culpeper Recreation Foundation. The ride will be held rain or shine! Helmets are required on all rides. All routes begin with the same course so cyclists may shorten or lengthen their ride. SAG vehicles will have supplies for basic bicycle repairs. Rest stops along the routes will have restrooms as well as provide water, energy drinks and snacks. 15th Annual Culpeper Airport Air Fest

Rhonda Vincent, The Queen of Bluegrass at The State Theatre

Bluegrass vocalist and fiddler Rhonda Vincent began her professional music career at the age of five, playing drums with her family's band, the Sally Mountain Show. She picked up the mandolin at eight and the fiddle at ten, performing with the family band at festivals on weekends. After appearing on TNN's nationally televised You Can Be a Star program in her mid-twenties, Vincent struck out on her own, singing with the Grand Ole Opry's Jim Ed Brown, eventually leading to a deal with Rebel Records. Her work with Brown and her Rebel recordings caught the attention of Giant Nashville's president, James Stroud, who signed Vincent to record two contemporary country albums. After her time at Giant, she moved to Rounder Records, and demonstrated her passion for the traditional music she grew up with, on Back Home Again.

The Nutcracker Suite follows a young girl named Clara, who receives a magical wooden nutcracker as a holiday gift. With the help of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Clara journeys through enchanting Lands of Snowflakes and Sweets in a holiday celebration that's not to be missed. This enchanting 90-minute performance is set to Tchaikovsky's famous score and is sure to delight the entire family!
