Back With More Brews: Culpeper’s Second Annual 'Gnarly Hops and Barley Fest' Craft Beer Festival April 26, 2014

Culpeper, VA. Culpeper Renaissance Inc. (CRI) is proud to serve up its second annual beer festival this April. With the excitement still surrounding 2013’s Gnarly Hops and Barley Fest, attendees palettes’ can look forward to 10 more breweries on tap and a wider variety of mouth-watering local food. Located in the historic Downtown Culpeper area, this craft beer festival is sure to be nothing but “gnarly.”

Taking place on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from Noon – 6:00 PM in the Spencer Street Parking Lot, the Gnarly Hops brewfest returns with live music and over 70 different beer selections. Sample Virginia and nationally brewed beers, including area favorites like Devil's Backbone, Starr Hill, Blue Mountain, and Wild Wolf Brewing Company. Bold Rock Hard Cider will again be available in two refreshing flavors: Hard Apple and Draft Cider. A few well-known out-of-towners will also be on draft, like Goose Island, Sweet Water, Omegang, and Lagunitas Brewing Company. CRI guarantees there will be a craft beer to suit any taste– beer enthusiasts might even find a new favorite!


Kelsey Carlson, President of CRI, is eagerly anticipating the arrival of this year’s beerfest. “Planning has been in the works for months. We’re thrilled to be bringing back a majority of the breweries from last year and welcoming many new additions.I have no doubt that attendees will be impressed with the committee’s craft beer selections.”

Culpeper, a Great American Main Street Award winner, boasts delicious local eats that will also be on hand to accompany the cold brews. Food from Glory Days, Kababs‘N’More, Piedmont Steakhouse, and many more. Live music by Shenandoah Alley will kick off the festivities followed by "the genuine songwriting and voice" of Bryan Elijah Smith & the Wild Hearts with a special guest appearance by Krista Polvere. A variety of hip local artisans will be attending the event as well, presenting their unique, handcrafted goods, furniture and jewelry to festivalgoers.

With only a limited number of advanced tickets available for the Gnarly Hops and Barley Fest, CRI is encouraging those 21-and-older who would like to attend to purchase tickets early to ensure a spot at this popular downtown event. Advance tickets are available for $25 and may be purchased now at Culpeper Cheese Company, Vinosity (both located on Davis Street in downtown Culpeper) and Randy’s Flowers (211 West Evans Street) and on the web at www.gnarlyhops.eventbrite.com.
$5 non-drinking tickets will be available for purchase at the gate on the day of the event.
