Culpeper Downtown 3rd Thursday Summer Concert Series Kick-Off: June 19, 2014

Culpeper, VA. Thursday returns as the “new Friday” when Culpeper Renaissance, Inc. kicks-off its 3rd Thursday Summer Concert Series on June 19, 2014, directly in front of the Depot. Culpeper Renaissance, Inc. is a development organization dedicated to enhancing, celebrating and enriching Culpeper’s historic downtown. H...ank Milans, 3rd Thursday Summer Concert Series Chairman, is eagerly anticipating the arrival of this year’s Concert Series. “We’re thrilled with the stand-out band selection for this year; it has been met with great excitement from the community and surrounding region.”

The musical festivities begin on June 19, 2014, with “feel good sounds” from The Embers featuring Craig Woolard. One of the greatest bands ever to come out of the Carolinas, The Embers have been making music for decades, playing a mix of rhythm and blues, heart and soul. To say "The Embers play Beach Music" is an understatement. After seventeen albums and numerous single releases, The Embers are one of the most popular bands, as well as one of the most active groups, in the country. They've been inducted into the South Carolina Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame and were named North Carolina's Official Musical Ambassadors. The Embers have opened for the Rolling Stones, made commercials for Budweiser, performed at the Olympics and during former President Clinton's inauguration.

July 17, 2014 features The Worx, an award-winning mid-Atlantic, Southeastern group. The Worx perform modern and classic rock ‘n’ roll covers as well as original material with such energetic enthusiasm that everyone will be on their feet for this highly-anticipated show.

The 3rd Thursday Summer Concert Series finale will be held August 21, 2014, with The Fabulous Hubcaps, one of the nation’s most sought after oldies and rock show bands. Their career has been as diverse and colorful as the bowling shirts they wear. In 2005, The Hubcaps were proudly inducted into The Southern Legends Entertainment and Performing Arts Hall of Fame. This high-energy band continues to captivate audiences with their tributes to original artists like Little Richard, James Brown, Tina Turner, Bobby Darin, Sonny and Cher, The Flamingos, Ray Charles, The Beach Boys, Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline, Elton John and Frank Sinatra. With an extensive repertoire of doo-wop group harmony, classic rock ‘n’ roll, rock-a-billy, Motown, and R&B music, The Fabulous Hubcaps are heralded as one of the best oldies show bands in the country. This is one concert Culpeper music lovers should not miss!

The 3rd Thursday Summer Concert Series is in full swing September 18, starting with the foot-tapping beats of Groove Train. Guests won’t be able to resist dancing to a popular blend of well-known disco songs. Groove Train also offers plenty of entertainment with groovy costumes, big hairstyles and outrageous showmanship.
